Lots of people.  If you are not from the EU and plan to stay more than 9 days you should technically apply for a PdS.  For elective residency you need to to prove you have the minimum amount of money required to stay in Italy and not be a burden on the state.   Otherwise its no big deal. 

What is your nationality?Femmena, As an American citizen I have to apply for and been granted a PdiS several times. This process is similar but slightly different than applying for the elective residence visa.
