We have just moved into our house in Isola which is near Cingoli. Does anyone know of a company that can supply good logs for our fire.

as in all things local knowledge is best....if you have a wood fire then most probably all your neighbours do...... this can be a good way to make new friends also...... ask where they get their wood and use the same people....wood companies ??????????? it ll be a local farmer or some small one man business.... they come in quintales.... the spelling might not be right but it sounds like tht....100 kgs.... we use 30 quintales per winter ..... and the cost we pay... 12 euro per quintale.... cut to 35 cm.....the smaller the log the more you pay... more work.... like i say talk to a local.... they might well love you for life.... if you buy 10 quintale.... say 150 euro.... they might well see this as a good boost to your local economy.....if you get some " foreign " outsider from 10 kms away to bring you wood you might well offend everyone living close by....as in all things if the language is a problem ...drag a neighbour into your house and show them the cold fireplace and make signs of freezing.... it ll get arranged for you.... you just have to have the cash ready ....use the quintale... pronounced with an accent on the e .... and i woyuld say order ten...to carry you thru and make the delivery worthwhile..... invite the local in at the end of unloading and pay him cash with a couple of glasses of local wine.....your wine glasses have to be the right shape...forget abourt stems...these are flat bottomed about the size of a triple measure of spirit in england and slightly fluted.... you have to fill them right to the top.... if its wine from a local...the top is when a little drip falls onto the table its so full..... and you then have to drink this quite quickly on the first one....and then insist on a second ...which you might take your time over.... the third is refused in general.... politely... which then gives you a chance to get the wheelbarrow out and stack your wood..... this can be dangerous aS OTHER NEIGHBOURS SEEING YOUR PILE OF WOOD WILL COME TO HELP ......YOU THEN HAVE TO GET THE WINE READY AGAIN AT THE END....AT LEAST TWO GLASSES REQUIRED..... you might feel then that the easiest part of your wood delivery was paying... but now your neighbours will know you are " bravo" and your life here will just have started as it should go on...
