1534 Egnazia in Puglia

Does anyone know if Egnazia , the Archaological site is open out of season....have trawled the web and apart from appaling translations can't find an 'official' site for the place.
Sons over for Christmas and eldest loves all things ancient...including his mother !!! :D

Thought you might enjoy this translation about Egnazia !!!

The neoliti to us takeovers; the ruins of the messapica Egnazia that Orazio admired constructed on the angered adriatic sea; the wonderful ones fresco of the devout dwellings torn to the cliff; the arrogant towers and masserie fortified, alert lookouts against the coming from attacks from the sea; the white man historical center that is tightened around to the rinascimentale Church Mother , the baroque palaces and umbertini, the beautiful public square on which the neoclassico Palace of City shows oneself allows us to assert that
Fasano is art and culture.

Certainly poetic !!! :D ...but when is it OPEN ???!!!!

Actually it’s not yet that dark, today sunrise at 7.43 and set 18.32 (we are one hour ahead of you) and this autumn has been unusually warm, last week sunny and around 15C as it was in Italy and many parts of Med. Shortest daylight time is around Christmas about from 9 to 15 but the worst thing for me is that it can cloudy two months without seeing blue sky. Add there Nov/Dec time before snow comes, it rains and everything is really DARK. You can just guess where my thoughts are then!

Well maybe I finally have to create the introduction which been postponed because of lazyness, I’ll put it in the introduction thread when I get it done.

You are right I’m Finnished – mentally (maybe also fysically at 51) ;) – because it’s allready four years I was in Italy last time. I’ve Finnish mother, Danish father (Swedish grandmother) and was often in Italy 80s/90s when dealing with an Italian boat manufacturer, but I’ll post more later.

The forum has been kind of 'life line' to be a bit closer to Italy, though at the moment any Med country would do better than this place! Working on to sort it out.

Rgs, Paul

Arrivo subito!

Unfortunately not yet possible, until then I have to satisfie to bottled sun ie sufficient amount of wine, grappa, rhum…… anything legal that makes one happy :)

Seriously, I noticed long ago that I’m included in the 3 percent of population that really suffer from darkness, up here you have long dark winter and long, very light summer which keeps you awake. As the Med area ‘light rhythm’ suites much better: proper night and generally enough blue sky the year around.

But I’m a bit worried about the increasing British invasion to Italy – before I get everything organized there might not be ‘pure’ Italian place for me anymore ;)

There may be quite a few British in Puglia but well scattered I think !!
Where we live it is 100% Italian..well it was until we arrived ..!! ;) .still very unspoilt in Puglia !

We are going to Puglia in a week's time to see how the house building is progressing. Expect to move early February next year and have plans to retire in the area. Have picked up a lot of valuable info from the forum exchanges and will continue to do so.
Understand there are a few British people in our area but still very much unspoilt.
