3389 Salve! Please come to mostra.

My name is Jerry Ross and I am new to the web site and to the Forum. I was looking for a button that says "reply" but I assume creating a new thread is the way to post a message? We shall see.

Anyway I have 2 painting exhibits coming up in Italy:

My wife Angela and I have been visiting Italy for business and pleasure for the past 16 years.

I see that your message has been edited so that no one will know where your exhibitions are going to be held. It has been deemed "advertising".

Personally I think this was a rather harsh decision by the moderator.
I was intending to "advertise" an exhibition by a friend of mine - not a professional photographer, just someone who has been offered a bit of commune gallery space in June because she takes nice piccies and has become a well known figure in her local town - but no doubt that message will get the same treatment as yours.

Good luck

Hi Relaxed,

Just to let you know that I sent a PM to Jerry Ross explaining and suggesting he puts his website as a signature, so people can still check it out... :)

While it's nice that people can attend exhibitions (and I for one like going to any), it's also a means of earning a living.

Ciao,
S

I support Iona's decision, if you check the rules on trade advertising, you will see that the post was one of the type particularly refered to as a first post saying Hi, I have this service to offer.....
On the other hand, were you to advertise a friends exhibition, as you have been posting for a while now on many different subjects, it is likely that your "plug" would pass unmoderated.

Okay!! Sorry - it did occur to me that the message was a "first post" after I had made my reply!

No probs, Relaxed! ;)

There have been a few 'personal' ads here lately and I always send a PM suggesting people put their website addies as their signature, as many others on the forum do. Some sort of 'passive' advertising rather than 'active'...

I hope I didn't scare Jerry off and he'll tell us a bit about his experiences in Italy. :)

Cheers,
S
