[LEFT]adriatica contacted me and asked me to post the following since his name seems to crop up in various debates:
---------------------
ronald

seems my identity gets quoted as an example of a failing of the forum

if you wish to as i cannot post, my choice, i know you can quote me from this pm

i left the forum as i thought i was getting stale and had nothing much useful to say, i ask ronald to disable me, as the place is like a drug, even if you have nothing useful or constructive, even positive to say you still end up saying it, so it was easier for me

whilst on the forum, and i think i had been there longer than most members apart from one or two i never failed to appreciate the efforts of those that run it, put their time and their money into it, and allow this community to exist,

i had disputes with some moderators but was always treated fairly, and have no antagonistic feelings about how i was treated at those times, i enjoyed the arguing with them, finally agreed their point of dispute with me and got on with life, and carried on posting , i did in fact read the rules and knew they were right

anyway i still view the forum, i enjoy it, i like seeing new members joining in more , but i left for my own selfish reasons, and they are my business, and really i think it hardly proper to use me as someone as an example of leaving because of moderation , rules or ronald, i resent that assumption and i think ronald has already stated once that it was my choice

so i would like to thank all of the forum including moderators, ronald and italy mag for allowing me access to a comunity that i enjoyed a lot and long may it run as it is.......thankyou........adriatica

Good Luck.

Hi Adriatica,

Being a mother of three, single, grown boys (20,22 and 25) and planning a move to Italy, this posting of yours always makes me chuckle when I think of it, lol

"...ok another survey...it seems that the average age a male gets married for the first time here is 33....

...it means that he lives at home till then.... and as all red blooded italian males have realised its much better living at home saving on rent and having the cleaning , washing and cooking done by mum....

... so beware all of you planning to move here with young male offspring...they ll be around a long time....

...dont know why they didnt mention female occupancy of the home ... but it might well be that while the son is expected to neither contribute or help the daughter in general helps with all the household chores...so is maybe not so much of a burden....

of course the statistics apply to marriage only....not living together...but in a sense they have a much lower chance of people choosing this route of life... it might be handy for any of you that have not formalised a relationship in the legal sense to know that unmarried couples are not recognised here and that say you live with someone for fifty years and they happen to die...all possesions of his/her will pass on to the nearest blood relative.... even if fifty times removed or the state if none can be found "

I hope you and your family are doing well!
Dee

[quote=will]hey John, ...........cant PM you.... just wanted to say ta-ra.... by and large, like you just enjoy viewing forum these days. I will really miss your posts though, you have a very individual writing voice which flies in the face of convention (and punctuation) and yet has real clarity. Some of your postings on the socio political issues in Italy and the variations in weather were absolute classics and I'm ashamed to say I also enjoyed the sparring with loteresco in the early days (schadenfreud perhaps?).

Being in the audience instead of centre stage is still entertaining and informative without some of the agravation. Enjoy your retirement.

All the Best for the future to you and yours in Abruzzo.

Yup agree with Trulli... :)

John, you're being missed!! I'm glad you still enjoy reading around here, though!!

Hope you'll find the time to give us your full attention again one day! All the best!!!

And Will... glad you're posting again - if occasionally! ;)
