"Support groups"?
Isn't that the term usually used for self-help groups set up by people afflicted with an unpleasant condition of some sort? :p

We have a Discovery - does that count?? and there are a couple of off-road clubs in San Ginesio and Sarnano. What did you have in mind? If you need any info call Georgina at the house (she's actually been out with the mad boys - racing through rivers etc), details on the web site

Chelsea tractors - has Florence banned them? Heard something along those lines :)

We are close to Florence in a very affluent town and the new Range Rover Sport seems to be the favoured 4X4 whereas it used to be the Porsche thingy - apparently the key is a profile shape of the car itself - now how impressive is that?
I don't buy into the argument used by the gang that draws silhouettes of children on the driveways of 4x4 owners. The case that they are murdering machines favoured by would-be murderers is far from proven. The statistics simply don't support that viewpoint.
The killing machines are in fact poorly maintained cars overloaded with teenagers who have been out for a night on the tiles - even with a "nominated driver" the egging-on effect of a bunch of alcohol and testosterone fueled peers can have disastorous results.
However, I do think most people are wrong to buy 4x4s because they are an uncomfortable ride on long journeys. At high speed on motorways they tend to bob up and down like a boat. Although I could be branded a hypocrite for owning a Panda 4x4 but it was bought when we lived in the mountains and is the sweetest little car I have ever owned.
Sorry, Tony

For all other 4x4 enquiries, please refer to the aptly named thread in the CdC...

18 yr old landrover destroyer (ex military jeep) drove it all the way from Yorkshire to Reggio Emilia 2 yrs ago, and still going well!
And yes there is landrover respect here, lots of friendly waves from other owners.
But we dont like caravans!

Are Landy owners on speaking terms with Range Rover Sports owners or it is just that they would like to be but they can't get there fast enough.:D

Although I am a Disco girl myself, I have 90 and 110 heritage and therefore understand the need for a support group, having seen my dad under his! You should have seen his face when I got a job based in Lode Lane!
I understand Giuliano Mosca (MC province) organises rallies and such like. I think he's advertised on most wheel covers! Does the LROCUK not have an italian link?
:p

I needed a dual purpose vehicle so I bought a Landrover Discovery. I need to be able to fold the back seats down, visit builders merchants for restoration materials, possibly tow up to 3500kgs, fold up the rear seats so that I can seat 7 people and do the airport run, 4 wheel drive etc, etc. cheap to repair with good support all over the world from dealers and private individuals. try doing that in a Fiat Panda or a people carrier. As I said its a 'Landrover thing'

Obviously you passed your test before 1997.
Great thing about large 4x4, is i pass on average maybe 10 a year, that have
overturned, towing caravans/trailers. remember seeing maybe 2 or 3 normal
cars in the same situation.....
Am i an anti 4x4? no i had a delta intagrale, that was a 4x4,and as you state
you need to use a trailer often, so it does make real sense, when you only
have one vehicle........

I stated 'possibly tow' not I tow often, I do not have trailer and at the moment do not need one, The point I am making is that the Discovery is a good all round 4x4 with good support both in the Uk and abroad.
Are there any Landy owners around the Ancona area ? If so, are there any local clubs or support groups ?
