George yes owned danes for yrs I have already got a harliquin and she is partically deaf and blind, she's 3 and a half now and love her to bits. When they are born if they are white theres a 99% chance of them being deaf and blind same goes for boxers. I have seen photos of her and she is fine. Having dealt with a deaf and blind dog before It wouldn't bother me anyway I love the breed and wouldnt have any other.
Phoned Defra and went to see the Vet in my local village today the rules are worse here. When my other Danes registered with the pet scheme Dogs are allowed out of the uk After Normal puppy injections, Microchip & Rabies which you have to wait 21 DAYS after rabies before you can move them and I had the blood. After the blood you normally have to wait 6 months before you can return to uk but can leave straight away. Here in Italy the vet told me you cant even take them out of italy until you have waited the 6 month Period after blood.
Found out from Defra I can have her microchip and Rabies done in uk at 12 weeks. then have to wait 21 days gestation period and she can travel. When she gets here can have blood done but cant take her out of Italy for 6 months. My God what a carry I sound like the defra help Line
Finding a Harliquin here would have been alot easier.

That's very interesting news. My mother's about to rent a house near lake Como from June and will bring her greyhound. She's going to see the vet on Monday to get his rabies sorted. She also wanted to take him back & forth occasionally as she'll continue doing seminars in Sussex.
Will see what her vet says about all that. ;)
Thanks!

may be on a driving trip to italy at the right time- I will ask. they love pets- as the previous person said, getting the puppy out of their italian farm may be the hard bit...
so I got confused with all that dependency stuff- what date do you anticipate the pup being ready to travel and what window of opportunity?
cheers Jude
I would love to do it but there would only be one problem------you wouldn't get the puppy back. I'm a sucker when it comes to puppies. Good luck however and hope someone will help you out.
