Malvern, I'm sure you will find many great places to stay in the area you are looking at.
Just beware of many "non registered and non legal" tour operators who are now offering packages in Italy.A bit like the number of bogus estate agents who have sprung up too I suppose.
Inorder to sell you a travel package ie. accomodation and transfers or any other tourist related services, one must be registered as a travel agent or tour operator and hold the relevant paperwork and insurances too.
So many are now springing up that FIAVET is about to take a very hard line and your holiday could be at risk.
Simple advice, check their credentials before putting your special event in their hands.
I don't wish to sound negative here but only to avoid that people like yourselves may get a raw deal when you come to Italy via non registered agents and then something goes wrong and you're up the creek as it were.
Be selective is the best advice I can give you.

Couldnt agree more.
It seems to be the 'In Thing' at the moment
for the english to try to rip off their countrymen.
This is one reason why I am happy to provide any information
which allows people to enjoy this lovely area at the Hotels own prices.

That is often a good way round it for bogus agents too, They then take a cut from the hotels. Still all very illegal.
What many don't know is that even a registered agent in the UK needs to go through a registered agent in Italy------even the big guys like Thomson, Airtours etc all have a legal local agent.
I really think apart from each to their own line of work, that they are taking a big risk.
If something goes wrong the clients have every right to then turn and blame the bogus agent as they are the ones who led them to the place in the first instance.
Italian finance police don't believe fairy tales about I only recommend people there!!!!
They know how it all works.
I wonder how many of those new estate agents or travel specialists would ever dream of doing the same in their own country!!!!
Why in someone elses?
Let's hope they get their just desserts soon.

Thanks all - but perhaps I should just clarify a little. I have a house in Ripatransone that will be needing a little work over the next few months. The bills no doubt will start hitting me soon. I will be in the area shaking hands on a few things later in June, and my wife and I decided on a final blow-out with our daughter to celebrate how far we had come, and to go mad before the frugal times begin. I am not asking for much - just great food and accomodation in a great location! I am a fairly independent type of traveller, and rarely get involved with travel agents and third parties although I am well aware of the fine work some do. What I was really looking for was maybe a personal recommendation from someone who had found something special rather than a travel service. Any thoughts?
Many Thanks
John

Hi John,
Have a look at www.hotelfortino.it
A lovely secluded and relaxing hotel in portonuovo on the conero coast and very close to Ancona airport.
There are some lovely secluded beaches, stunning scenery and great restaurants------starting from the one in the hotel itself and going through all the excellent fish restaurants dotted along the beach.
There's even a sushi bar called il clandestino which is really good on a Summers evening dining on the waters edge under the stars.
It's a great area for visiting other small villages such as Numana and Sirolo and even Loreto should you wish to explore.
It would be an ideal place to relax and pamper yourselved before the big hand shakes.
Good luck with your deal and hope you have a lovely break too.
