Alfa Rome Brera wins the Most Beautiful Car of the Year award

The Alfa Romeo Brera has received the Most Beautiful Car of the Year award at the International Automobile Festival here. Alfa's new 2+2 coupe' won out for esthetics over the Peugeot 407 coupe', the Chrysler 300 C Touring and the Lexus IS 250.

The prize was given out at a special ceremony Tuesday night attended by leading figures from the worlds of sport, entertainment and the business, including Renault Formula 1 boss Flavio Briatore.

The jury which chose the Brera was headed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and included fashion designer Chantal Thomass, Le Point magazine editor-in-chief Franz-Olivier Gisbert and the chairman of the French Art Market Council, Herve' Poulain.

Other prizes went to the Citroen C6, for having the best interior; the Bugatti Eb 16.4, Super Car of the Year; and the Mazda Senku, which won the Concept Car of the Year prize. Italy's Giorgetto Giugiaro, who designed the Alfa Romeo Brera, received the Grand Prize for Art.

The Alfa Romeo Brera, which replaces the GTV and will soon have a convertible version, made its debt at the recent Geneva Car Show and some observers believe it will be Alfa's ticket back to the lucrative American market.
