Anne Hathaway in a Vintage Valentino Dress at the Met Gala
Anne Hathaway went vintage for her take on this year's Punk: Chaos Meets Couture-themed Met Gala theme wearing a sexy black gown from Valentino’s 1992 archives.
Last year, she chose the Italian designer to create her romantic, off-the-shoulder wedding gown when she tied the knot with Adam Schulman, and more often than not turns to her friend for her major red carpet appearances.
However, at this year’s Oscars she caused a bit of a fashion scandal when switching from Valentino to Prada at the last minute, but at the Met Gala she did not just wear a Valentino dress, she actually arrived accompanied by the designer showing they are still good friends.
Anne carried the punk theme throughout her look by pairing her vintage dress with bleach blonde hair and dark eye makeup.
1992 Valentino's collection intended to evoke the style of classic Hollywood; Valentino had designed for prominent fashion icons such as Jackie Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor.
In 2001, another movie star, Julia Roberts, worn a Black and White Valentino vintage dress from the same 1992 collection at the 73rd Academy Awards, during which she won the Academy Award for her performance in Erin Brockovich. Widely praised by fashion critics, a poll published in the Daily Telegraph, voted it the third most iconic red carpet dress of all time.
