Italian cyclist Ivan Basso on Tuesday plea-bargained a six-month doping ban commuted into a fine for using banned substances.
The ruling means the 2006 Giro d'Italia will be able to resume his career after being prevented from starting last year's Tour de France amid doping suspicions.
Basso, 30, admitted ''planning to'' use drugs after being involved in the Spanish Operacion Puerto probe, but subsequently retracted that admission.
