Buona Festa dei Nonni - Happy Grandparents Day

Today Italy celebrates Italian grandparents with la Festa dei Nonni. Grandparents Day is a celebration introduced in Italy on the 31st of July 2005, to celebrate the important role played by grandparents within families and society in general.
It is celebrated on October 2 , when the Catholic Church celebrates the Guardian Angels and the official flower chosen for this special day is the forget-me-not .
The Italian song dedicated to Grandparents Day is "Tu Sarai", written and produced in 2005 by singer-songwriter Walter Bassani and sang by Peter Barcella. It has been widely acclaimed for the positive message uniting generations of children, parents and grandparents. There are also a spanish, a german and an english version of the song which was also presented to the UN World Day dedicated to Grandparents with the title "Day by Day" and has received several awards.
