Christmas village of wonders in Milan

| Thu, 12/02/2010 - 04:47

Visitors to Milan in the run-up to Christmas will have a chance to go skating and sledge-riding right in the middle of the city as the “Villaggio delle Meraviglie” [“Village of Wonders”] opens in the via Palestro Gardens this Saturday.

The main attractions will be two skating rinks, one for beginners and one for more experienced skaters, special slopes for sledge rides and, for younger children, “La Casa di Babbo Natale” [“Santa's House”]. There will also be a circus school.

Those who have not finished their Christmas shopping will be able to peruse the “Elves' Market”, where small, wooden houses have been decorated with fairy lights. Foods from all over Italy and from some other European countries will be on sale and there will be plenty of other gifts to choose from.

Volunteers from the Francesca Rava Foundation, a non-profit organisation which is helping children in Haiti, will be on hand to explain their work.
