Have you ever tried ciciri and tria (fried dough and chickpeas), octopus “alla pignata” or turnip tops orecchiette?
These and other delicacies from Salento, in the southern region of Apulia, are available at the Dieta Med-Italiana Festival (Festival of Italian Mediterranean Diet), currently under way in Lecce until May 4.
In the central Sant’Oronzo square, local companies and small producers display local products, including fruits and vegetables, olive oil, wine and grains, dairy products, fish, meat and desserts, for a cheerful celebration of the Mediterranean diet.
The event also features cooking classes, thematic exhibitions, cultural events and more. During the festival, local restaurants will be offering a special fixed-price menu based on delicious seasonal produce.
