Be the first to slide down a pristine piste in Italy’s top-notch ski area, Trentino, and enjoy the first morning light that is all the more special when you’re high up on a mountain: the Trentino Ski Sunrise initiative is currently under way, and will continue through the winter season in different locations around Trentino until the end of March 2018.
Skiers get early-morning access to lifts and cable cars and are whisked to mountain huts where they can enjoy an Italian-style breakfast (you’ll need the strong coffee!), and then ski down as the first rays of light hit the uncrowded and freshly-groomed slopes, accompanied by local ski instructors.
If you don’t ski, you can still experience the early-morning magic as snowshoeing and walking excursions are offered as well, under the expert guidance of Alpine guides.
Before venturing on the slopes, a hearty breakfast made with local products (milk, yogurt, fresh bread, apples, honey, cured meats, cheese, eggs, cakes, and traditional recipes) will be served at huts to provide the needed energy for all activities on the snow.
Trentino Ski Sunrise has become so popular that it’s now offered mid-week, besides the regular Saturday event. It continues until March 31 and the full program is available at this link. Some of the locations include favorite spots such as San Martino di Castrozza, Madonna di Campiglio, and Val di Fassa. It costs €25 to attend.
