Here are some words that could confuse you when you’re out and about:
La libreria is not the library but the bookshop.
The library is la biblioteca.
We hope you won’t have to go to the hospital but if you do, un ambulatorio is an outpatients’ department or clinic.
And if you’re in the country and someone says, “C’è un’ ape”, there isn’t an ape coming towards you!
It’s a bee or it could be one of those tiny, three-wheeler trucks piled high with fruit and vegetables. They buzz through the traffic like a bee.
