Italian showgirl Elisabetta Canalis, better known to foreign audiences as the ex-girlfriend of George Clooney, will be tying the knot – just like her ex – in September in Italy.
35-year-old Canalis will marry orthopedic surgeon Brian Perri in Sardinia, where she was born, on Sunday.
Just last week, Clooney announced he would marry fiancée Amal Alamuddin in Venice in late September.
Clooney and Canalis dated for two years, from 2009 to 2011. On breaking up, they released a joint statement saying, "We are not together anymore. It's very difficult and very personal and hope everyone can respect our privacy."
Asked to comment on the news of Clooney’s engagement in April by Italian gossip magazine Chi, Canalis said, "I cannot but send him my most sincere congratulations."
With regards to her marriage, she said, "I chose the date some time ago and September is the most beautiful time, for those who do not know Sardinia, to appreciate it. Otherwise I would have had to wait a year."
The wedding reception will be held at the historic wine estate Sella & Mosca in Alghero.
Canalis, who participated in the American edition of Dancing with the Stars in 2011, briefly dated Jackass star Steve-O after splitting with Clooney.
