Gucci is going green with a new line of eyewear, producing eco-friendly glasses with Safilo.
The luxury brand will team up with the eyewear giant in order to create a line of environmentally conscious glasses.
The line, due out in August, will debut with four styles. The Gucci glasses will be made with "an innovative acetate which, compared to traditional acetate used for optical frames, contains a much higher percentage of material from natural origins" according to the company’s press release.
The collaboration will also include two models of sunglasses made from castor-oil seeds, in an effort to further reduce the brand’s CO2 emissions.
When the glasses drop this summer, Gucci will go beyond the eco-friendly frames, making sure that everything down to the packaging is also green.
