Italy’s top design companies will be showing off their talents at the Colour Your Life exhibition in London this autumn.
Open to the public for free from 20th of September to the 20th of October the show forms part of IDEA 2012 (Italian Design Exhibition Area) to be held at the Park Plaza Hotel by the city’s Westminster Bridge. Visitors will be able to see products and contemporary furnishings that aim to promote – and unite – Italian design and fashion through the theme of colour. Top names to exhibit including Versace Home, Diesel and Missoni Home.
Among the items on display will be the innovative Wave velvet-covered dormeuse seating designed by Donatella Versace that combines Baroque lines with the fashion designer’s flamboyant sense of style, and the chic yet eccentric L’Improbabile (The Improbable) cuckoo clock from Gumdesign, which has no hands although a tiny plastic cuckoo pops out to announce the passing of time.
Co-sponsor Illy Caffè will exhibit its colourful teacup collection created by French conceptual artist Daniel Buren, with a colourful and interactive installation. Other companies participating in the show are kitchen-utensil company Alessi, furniture maker Bonaldo and soft-furnishings specialist Busatti.
Organised by design and art consultancy Dyade, and in its third year, IDEA is part of the London Design Festival and the prestigious 100% Design annual design-interiors trade event.
