Earlier this month, we reported on the terrible wildfires raging across Italy destroying forests, nature preserves, fields and causing the death of three people.
Now Coldiretti, the Italian association of farmers, has published the results of a study on the consequences of 6,200 fires (+74%) that have been started since the beginning of the year on about 35,000 hectares
of land.
The study reports a massacre of animals, with 14 millions killed, especially birds, insects and reptiles that inhabited the woods. Thousands of species of plants and trees, wild mushrooms and herbs were destroyed as well causing terrible damage to the biodiversity of Italian forests.
