Yesterday, Italian priest Father Andrea Gallo, often leading controversial campaigns for gay rights, the use of contraceptives, undocumented migrants rights, etc., launched a calendar dedicated to the transgender community of Genoa.
Father Gallo was accompanied by 12 transgender models, each representing a different month of the year on the calendar. He decided to support the initiative to "Defend one's rights against hypocrisy" and "give a voice to the voiceless".
For the second time over the past weeks, an Italian clergy member has taken an openly progressive stance on sexual identity breaking with the Vatican line, as last week the bishop of Ragusa, in Sicily, Monsignor Paolo Urso, affirmed that the state should recognise gay couples.
