Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi will perform an original international musical collaboration this Sunday at the BT River of Music Festival, London's precursor to the Olympic Opening Ceremonies on the 27th of July.
Part of the 12-week London 2012 Festival, the BT River of Music Festival will fill six stages along the River Thames with performances by artists from all 204 Olympic and Paralympic nations.
This Saturday and Sunday, international megastars, including the Scissor Sisters and Roberto Fonseca from the Buena Vista Social Club, and local and regional sensations, like Chinese star Gong Linna, will perform for free in iconic London locations ranging from the Tower of London to Trafalgar Square to Battersea Park.
World-renowned for his unique minimalist style, weaving simple piano melodies into ambient electronic or string backgrounds, Einaudi will collaborate with Robert Lippok of Berlin-based electronic trio To Rococo Rot and Alessia Tondo, who sang in the Apulian dialect on Einaudi's "Nuvole Bianche" (White Clouds) for his River of Music performance.
Free tickets for Einaudi's Sunday performance on the Europe stage in Trafalgar Square sold out quickly, but a limited number of newly released tickets are now available online with a £3 service fee.
