“Mare e Monti” on the Cilento Coast

Ah, the eternal dilemma for many Italians: “Shall we spend our summer vacation by the sea or hiking in the mountains?” Sometimes September stubbornly rolls around without it ever getting resolved. Thankfully, the coast of Cilento, in the Campania region, makes both a perfect summer escape to note for next year and an ideal destination in the off-season. (Or, as we might cheekily call it in this year of revved-up tourist traffic, the “slightly less ‘on’” season!)
