For anyone interested in visiting the Milan Expo 2015, taking place May 1-October 31, 2015, tickets for the general public are now on sale.
Tickets can be purchased online on the Expo’s website and through its official app. They will also be available through other channels, including branches of Intesa Sanpaolo bank.
Discount packages are available for families with children, people over 65 years old, groups and schools. Children under four and carers of people with disabilities are entitled to free tickets.
The average ticket price will be 32 euros, according to Milan Expo.
Last month Italy's prime minister Matteo Renzi gave organizers the target of selling 10 million tickets for the six-month event before it begins. Organizers hope to attract 20 million visitors from around the world in total. Five million tickets have already been sold to tour operators, including one million in China. More than 2.5 million tickets have been sold for the Italian pavilion.
The theme for the Expo is “Feeding the planet. Energy for life” and focuses on nutrition, sustainability, and fighting hunger. Italy will have the chance, among other things, to showcase its culinary excellence.
