Yesterday Mount Etna, in Sicily, spat out lava and produced a dense ash plume that extended further afield, stopping flights at Catania's Fontanarossa airport.
This time, it spewed out fountains of lava into the deserted Valle del Bove area, far from any inhabited areas, offering an amazing spectacle of "natural fireworks" to Sicilians and tourists.
This is already the second eruption in 2012; one of the most active volcanoes in the world, last year alone Mount Etna erupted eighteen times.
