Already recognized by Lonely Planet and Fodor’s as one of best hot springs and spa resorts in Europe, the Terme di Saturnia, nestled in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, have made the number one spot on CNN Top 20 spas and wellness retreats.
“This Tuscan spa has some of the world's most exotic facial treatments, using diamonds, gold and Antarctic ice as ingredients,” writes CNN. “Also on offer are Craniosacral Attuning, Micronized Nasal Showers and Physiokinesiotherapy. It all sounds pretty invasive, but we're assured the effects offer a blissful experience. Or something close to it. The spa sits beside an ancient thermal spring said to have healing powers, and is also awash in waterfalls, pools and Roman baths.”
Indeed, very few spas offer beauty treatments such as those by Terme di Saturnia, or make use of gold, diamonds and Antarctic ice; even fewer offer medical treatments and have a hot spring with great healing powers.
The concept of well-being at Saturnia is based on natural psycho-physical regeneration (what they call “Natural Reset”), which in turn is based on its pure thermal spring water that has been flowing for 3,000 years from the natural crater in the center of the resort at a constant temperature of 37.5°C, with a flow of 500 liters per second.
Saturnia is surrounded by the beautiful Maremma countryside, where visitors can watch the cowboys breed Maremma horses and ride with them, as well as explore the sparsely populated towns, the back roads, protected areas like the Natural Park of Maremma and the archaeological area of Vulci, an ancient Etruscan town.
