Francesco Totti signed a new five-year contract with his hometown club. This will keep him with Roma AC until he is 37.
Totti is a top-level football player like few others - he is part of a dying breed that remains faithful to his club above possibly higher retribution elsewhere and for that he is truly loved by fans of the Giallorossi.
Tott, the ANSA news agency reports, said "this will give me the chance to set new records". This was during a ceremony celebrating his 178 goals for Roma - the only club he has ever played for.
He dedicated the award to himself - "for the drive that has brought me here, something I'm proud off".
However, he also shared his award with 60 children from the quake-stricker area of L'Aquila - invited to participate in the celebrations and have dinner with teh football icon.
