Donatella Versace, Creative Director of the brand
Prada may have declared that the brand will never make fast fashion, but Versace has no qualms with pairing up with a major retailer to bring beautiful designs to less affluent customers.
The Swedish retailer H&M has announced a collaboration with the famously bold Italian brand. Creative director Donatella Versace will lead the design efforts.
The haute couture/bargain brand collaboration is becoming increasingly popular among well-established Italian design firms as a means of reaching a larger fashion-loving audience. In fact, Missoni recently announced plans to design a line for American retail giant Target.
H&M described the women’s collection as dominated by studded leather and colorful silk prints. The men’s collection promises well-tailored suits and belts. The brand will also produce homeware pieces such as bedspreads and cushions for H&M, featuring their signature Versace style.
The collection is expected to be released on the 17th of November 2011 and will be sold in 300 H&M stores worldwide.
