As we plan to run several articles dedicated to the beautiful island of Sicily this month, we decided our Word of the Week would be isola - island.
La Sicilia è l'isola più grande del Mediterraneo - Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean.
The plural of isola is isole.
L'Italia ha molte belle isole - Italy has many beautiful islands (you can explore some of them here.)
If you are walking around an Italian town and you see the sign "isola pedonale", it does not mean you are about to step onto an island, but rather into a pedestrian area - so avoid entering the area by car.
