30-year-old Francesca Liberatore from Rome is one of the four winners of the DHL Exported international fashion competition.
Liberatore beat a competition of 150 young designers from 36 countries to take home the award and the chance to debut her collection during New York Fashion Week for two consecutive seasons, this September and in February 2015.
Liberatore graduated in 2007 in Fashion Design Womenswear at Central Saint Martins, the same school where designers of the caliber of Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood graduated. She then built up an international experience working in the headquarters of some prestigious fashion houses, like Viktor&Rolf in Amsterdam, Jean Paul Gautier in Paris and Brioni womenswear in Italy. During her seven years of career, Francesca has presented her collections in Milan, London, Berlin and St. Petersburg. She says her fashion inspirations are Gaultier, Lacroix, Hermes and Ferragamo.
The award is in its first edition and was created by IgM Fashion in collaboration with logistics company DHL; it is supported by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, the British Fashion Council and the Japan Fashion Week Organization. The goal is to help young fashion designers who are already established in their local market to further expand their brand across international borders.
Winners were announced in London on May 27.
