2393 granite worktops

Hi,We have bought an apartment in beautiful Lucca. We are taking our own kitchen over to assemble and fit(but not the worktops). What we would like to know is where we can get granite or granite composite worktops to be expertly fashioned and fitted around Lucca.Thanks,Andy.

Hi,

Do not know where to get granite worktops at all. I know many of the architects we work with in the UK make regular visits to quarries just north of rome to select marble though.

Iif you're fitting these yourself, a not from bitter, bitter experience (£6500 worth in fact). Do not try and cut out the pieces they leave in to support the sink with an angle grinder or a cold chisel! Stupid I know, but you sometimes only realise that when your glorious new marble work top has shattered into about five pieces.

Hi,

There is a kitchen specialist in Lucca centre that has many worktops on show. It is not far from the Konie Language school (http://www.koinecenter.com), but I can't remember exactly where. I think it was left out of the building, then right and right again - I think I might have a Business card from them as I have bought a house in Trasillico, Gallicano, and was looking at fitting the kitchen out. If I find it I will post you a PM.

:)

Hi,
thanks for your help with the woktop information,we will have a look in acouple of weeks when we are there next. Also is Trasillico near Lucca and if so do you know any english or english speaking joiners in the area who could fit our kitchen and wardrobes. Many thanks,Andy.

Hi Andy,

I would try the local trade commerce in Lucca, or brits abroard / expats abroad web sites. I have a English Project Manager who is arranging all the quotes. Trassilico is about an hour North of Lucca. I could probably get my PM to get you one, but it ould cost you for her time, and obviously the joiner would cost more if he has to come to Lucca.

I will try and look for the kitchen stuff tonight if I get chance!

Regards

Many thanks for your help.We are now thinking of taking our own joiner over for a five day working holiday,so to speak.
Cheers,Andy.

We had a very nice experience in using a different material: Graniglia. It is a cement mixed with coloured little stones that you can choose to fit with the colours of your Kitchen and furnitures.
We know the artisan who is building that and it is in Arezzo.
If you are interested just mail me and I will let you know the adress.
Cari saluti!

Hi
I have been renovating an old Capanna near bagni di Lucca an decided to have granite worktops, did a lot of research and finally decided that you pay a fortune thru' the few kitchen shops so went straight to a marble supplier.
Can definetly say it was a good decision, they come and measure and fit.
We had 7 Metre in total length, holes cut for sink etc, polished and fitted 700 euros.
So shop around
ciao:)

Hi,thanks for that, appreciate your help and will certainly shop around, thanks,Andy.

Hello Brianm,
Can you post a photo of the counters? Love to see them.
Thanks
