2421 Interior design books

As more work starts on my fab Italian villa, thoughts are not being focused on its interior. My home in Uk is very plain, neutral colours and simple. I am looking for a complete contract with my second home and want a quite opulent, rich and luxurious feel, a bit ott really to give it a wow factor. I do have a soft furnishing business so the curtains ect are taken care of but I'm looking now for some good typical Italian Interior Design books. Can anybody recommend any.

After doing a search I've come accros this site, so have answered my own question really. I like the look of this one and can't wait to buy some old furniture and get the sewing machine machine and tape measure out....:D

Hi,

Just a note on interior design, lighting is one thing which can bring out all the colours in the way you want. Some good books written by Sally Storey on the subject. Knowing Sally to be a great self publicist, you'll probably find most of what's in it on the web if you can be bothered looking. Or link to Amazon below.

Thanks Andy, I know what you mean about lighting, I absolutely hate centre light's although am at the moment looking for a stunning chandelier. Had a stoke of good luck this week when the owner of the house Neal has been working on for the last three months gave him two table lamps which are enormous, very heavy, twisted gold bottoms and dark cream pleated silk shades and were £500 new when she bought them. I am over the moon and although they look out of place here they will look perfect in my new home in Italy.

Absolutely nothing wrong with candles! (Apart from them burning about 500 houses down in the UK each year - now removing safety officers head.). In fact they're full of reds and yellows in the light which will make the duck look great. Put a fluorescent over it (which has lots of 'cool' blue light in it) and you get a bland uniform light over your food. As we all know, presentation is everything!

Have to say I am humbled. Anything more than a can of beans and some burnt toast is way over my limit. For 18 I'd have to buy those cans with the sausages in, just to impress.

Never been sure about the Italian igloos. Can't say I trulli (Sorry!) like them, but they could grow on me.

I've found this a good place to find things. The prices are low enough to pay for shipping from the US in many cases.
