Desperate for roofer and finish trades in little village just north of San Remo, Liguria. Any ideas?

Hi Muffin,

I answered your other thread with the same answer as this one ;) I think you should send a PM (Private Message) to Cassini, she lives nearby. She's been a very good resource of information about things in the Imperia area.

I think you should find a geometra who in turn would be able to give you names of local building companies.Do not attempt to do roof work yourself or without building permission or you could have serious problems.Do not attempt to find jobbing (in the black building workers) or the problems could be worse and if anything actually happened to someone (fall off scaffolding, death ,broken legs/ or anything else for that matter) not only could you say goodbye to your house in italy but you could be if maybe for not too long be deprived of your freedom. This is not a story to put you off whatever itis you want to do it's simply the law,it seems a lot of people take these things very lightly but it's very serious.Just to give you a small example near us lives a guy who is on his pension he comes from Turin,he got a pensioner ex builder to do a tiling job in his house (not a roof or anything potentially dangerous) a neighbour sent round the work inspectorate... both their lives are ruined..the ex builder is trying not to have his pension taken away the house owner is facing mega fines to the order of Euro 50.000,00 all this for a few square metres of tiling to "save" on a professional tiler. The moral is use a geometra, get a builder with insured workers ,pay a buill with vat, get your house done. They can come from Genova or even imperia it doesn't matter where they come from you don't pay more...

We have a place just inland from Imperia and whilst we bought it as a newly completed build we could probably get some contacts from the people who had it built. We also have a good friend in the village who is a tiler (not roof tiles though!) and would almost certainly know people he could recommend. If you are interested, PM me.

If you are still posting about your place in Baiardo I would have thought you could access most trades in the Vallecrosia/Camporosso area. There are of course a couple of construction/rennovation companies in Apricale which is very close - details on www.apricale.org - the comune's website.

I would have thought it was an up and coming area with the rennovations more or less completed.

Wow! I feel thoroughly warned! The village is a bit remote and not too many companies want to work up there - therefore my post. I certainly do appreciate your information, however. Good to be reminded about taking care.
Thanks!
