Has anyone taken out buildings insurance on a property which is uninhabitable?
The property we are about to purchase needs major restoration work but is connected to another inhabited property, hence the need to make sure we have insurance.
We have looked at the post office site but are not sure whther they would actually cover our building.
Can anyone help?

you need to go in person to the insurance company. in italy 99% of companies will not quote through the telephone and will not give you a written quote.

I've insured through the AA Holiday Home scheme which was quite competitive; also SAGA if you're over 50. :)

The AA scheme is managed by Towergate Insurance. Telephone 01708 777601 or visit www.towergate.co.uk/HolidayHomes/Default.htm

''Basically what I have asked for is contents cover plus cover for fixtures and fittings ( bathroom and Kitchen) plus liability i.e. if a pipe bursts and floods the downstairs apartment etc ''

iv just taken insurance from UK insurance providers and building insurance does already cover for fixtures and fittings ( bathroom and Kitchen) plus liability i.e. if a pipe bursts and floods!!
