9917 Plumbing Query

Hi
I am aware that the copper pipes and fittings that we use in the UK are compatible with those in Italy does the same go for the plastic waste fittings?
I have to plumb in a kitchen sink and the builder has left a flush pipe in the wall to accept my waste pipe. this fitting includes a rubber seal that will suit a waste pipe pushed in to it.
many thanks

There seems to be loads of different sizes for fittings for plastic pipes. We couldn't find ones to fit ours in the local shops and had to go to a huge plumbers merchants in La Spezia, where there was no problem.

I suggest you take loads with you from the UK - they are light and cheap - I keep a stash of copper converters from when I did mine - it originally had gas pipes attached and used as water pipes!

Hi Mick
You do not say if the waste is UK or Italian but I recently did the same and you can buy a variety of the rubber seals with different sized centres, that would be a good way to fit different sized pipes. Go to a decent plumbers merchant rather than a diy store. The comment you make about the copper being the same in the two countries does not match my experience as 15mm in the UK and it is 16mm in Italy and 22mm does not match either. But half and three quarter threaded fittings are the same.
