2373 how does one work in Italy?

My husband is a plumber and we would like to take our children and move from the UK to Italy. Does anyone have any advice on how we can do this? What are the rules?

Cercasi Lavoro - Employment Questions

I think you've asked rather too open a question and it might be a better idea to do some background research before getting to your specific worries. I've no idea about Italian regs; but they probably have schemes like we have Corgi in the UK, and that would be my biggest worry. I can recommend a book called 'Living & Working in Italy' which might answer some question. Do a search of the archives on this site, and you might like to ask on the Expats in Italy web-site, although it tends to have a US membership who have different issues.

There are rules??? Since when does a plumber have rules. It's a trade. Do like all the other trades people (all over not just in Italy). Work under the table.

Well, fyi the Corgi scheme relates to gas, and as a prospective landlady here in the UK there's no way I'd use an unregistered gas fitter/plumber - I'd have no legal leg to stand on if anything happened. Simple tap connnection obviously no probs.

This is Italy. You are lucky person if you can find a plumber when you need one. Registered or unregistered. I needed a plumber 2 years ago. I waited a week and had to call in some favors just to get him to show up.

You better play it safe and bring your own tools. Remember in the "South of Italy" they will not work during the day if it is hot. I also learned a little trick to get a faster response when you want things done. I always tip them.

I guess completion bonuses are unknown in Italy?
