I am hoping to start teaching English here in Abruzzo and m planning to speak to our mayor re. a venue for classes etc. I was wondering, before I go and see him, do i need to have a work permit in order to work in Italy? I haven't got permanent residency yet but will be applying in the autumn when we come back from the uk after the summer. Do I need residency in order to work in teaching? I am following several routes including taking my certificates and cv to schools in the area, helping at the village school occassionally and observing classes at a nearby English Language school where they may have an opening for me in September provided they have enough students enrolling next term. However nothing is definite and i would prefer to set up my own classes for adults and children in the evenings/afternoons. has anyone else had sucess in TEFL in Abruzzo or elsewhere? What advice can you give me?:eerr:

Assuming you're an EU citizen then you don't need a permit.
