The first example is undoubtedly correct but is the second example of how you say ‘you have’ more commonly used or is it just the teacher cutting corners to simplify things?

I have = ho
You have = hai (informal "you have", if you are on first name terms or are talking to a child or a pet etc.)
You, he, she, it have/has = ha (Formal "you have" if in doubt use, especially with officials, police government offices etc.!)
Your teacher is probably trying to keep things simple by teaching the "formal" only first!
