11922 closed thread

I’m not complaining, just genuinely puzzled.

If something should have been said by pm (in the opinion of the moderators). How does closing a thread but leaving the post resolve the situation?

Surly all it does is deny the right of reply, which is very unfair to the person being asked for a response.

Or am I missing something here?

Hi Neilo
I think in fairness to Tusc, the reason the thread should be locked but left , is so there are no comebacks to the mods.
Before there would have been no reasons given for the lockdown, and no one could have seen why it was done.
IMHO , a better way to do it.

Below is part of the text from my question about the way Moderation had been carried out recently. I felt, with some justification that the Rules had not been adhered to.
The rules of Italy Mag. State the following quite clearly:

Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, No flaming or trolling. Flaming means posting something that's angry and mean-spirited - the online equivalent of flying off the handle. It's not a pretty sight, and we recommend constructive discussion as a far more satisfying pastime. Trolls say deliberately provocative things just to stir up trouble - it's not polite, so please don't do it. the Italy Magazine Forums is an incredibly friendly place, so please help to keep it that way. or the such.
We want to make the forum better and commit to replying to any suggestions, disagreements and constructive criticism. All such issues should be communicated to the Administrator exclusively via private messaging, e-mails, or even over the phone. The Administrator will consult with the Moderating team and any decisions as well as the reasoning behind the decision will be made public.
Once a decision has been taken it is final. We commit to making such decisions and the reasoning behind them public. You are, of course, free to send us a private message criticising the decision and we commit in making public your concerns and where appropriate our response. Once that is done, however, the matter is to be considered closed as forum life needs to move forward.

Both Ronald and Christiana responded and asked me to wait for Marc's response to my queries. That was fair so I did wait, and I really did feel that following Marc's reply, now was the right time to try and solve the long standing stalemate over this question in an amicable fashion.

Tuscanhills has now decided to close this latest thread, but the IM Rules were followed this time. I was advised of the decision by Private Message and the fact was posted publicly on the thread. For that I am grateful.

I accept the decision and I respect the fact that the decision, at this stage, is final. Though I do, of course have the right of appeal I believe.

I can't say that I am happy with the decision - but that is a personal opinion. I feel it has only served to close the door that I and others were trying to open.
But so be it. Cosi sia!
