12095 New Skype & Telecom deals mean virtually no call charges

I thought I'd let you know about some new telecom deals out there that could mean you pay no call charges at all.

Telecom Italia have a new deal called [URL="http://adsl.alice.it/telefonare/alice_casa.html?AC_EV=0800"]Alice Casa[/URL] which gives you 7Mega 24 hour ADSL internet connection and free Italian phone calls all for €45 a month and no line rental fees to TI, so the €45 is your total bill. There are lots of offers and discounts on this package at the moment.

This is incompatible with the Teleconomy International €10 a month deal BUT there is a new offer from Skype which costs just €3.95 per month for free calls to Europe or €8.95 for free worldwide calls. There is a call limit of 6 hours a day or 10,000 minutes a month on this Skype deal.

Now with the new Skype phones you do not even need to have a computer to call on Skype and the phone will work for regular landline calls and Skype calls. You just choose how you want to call. Eg - [URL="http://www.skypestyle.com/rtx_dualphone_3088.htm"]Dualphone

The only calls you would have to pay for in this scenario are premium numbers or calls to mobiles. There are plenty of deals with the mobile providers to allow you to not have to pay for calls to mobiles either!

We signed up yesterday for the "unlimited Europe" deal which is €4.95 plus VAT (€5.69) per month. We chose the option to pay for 12 months and thus saved 25% - total cost €51.23. The €3.95 per month is before VAT and unlimited country rather than Europe. As we don't have a landline I was also very interested in their new "buy a landline number" which came with 50% off as I was an unlimited Europe customer. However they have only got a handful of Italian locations that you can buy a number for and you have to confirm that you are resident in the area that you are buying the number for (having inserted codice fiscale). Roll on when Ripatransone is available as this will mean that we can be called as though we have a landline. No more expensive calls to our mobiles for those without skype.

Sorry, you're quite correct it is 4.95 plus VAT for the European deal.

I had an old SKYPE IN number and they let me bring that across for no cost as I was a SKYPE Pro subscriber. I use my UK SKYPE IN number for work and it is great as no-one knows I am working from Italy :-)
