2310 Car Tax

Am I right in thinking the car tax is due in January ???

The car tax is due if your bollo expired in December. Other due items this month are the TV tax (around €100) and the casalinga tax (€12.50)

Thanks again Cristina...is the TV Tax the same as the license ??? ...and Casalinga ????

As Crisitna seems to be the only one to answer the bill queries was just wondering if anyone else bothered to pay them ???????????;)

Am I right in thinking the ICI tax was due in December, if it was I'll pay in Feb when I get there. Felt better when I read somebody's post the other day theirs was two years in arrears so not too worried about a few weeks. Can I get the downloadable printable form online, does anybody know, then I can fill it in before I got out or do I have to get it at the post office when i get there.

Some comune will let you pay online. You may want to check with yours. There are fines and fees if late with ICI. Another problem, many times the post office will not have the forms after the end of the year.

TV tax is yes, tv license. You can pay after Jan. 31 but you will pay a small late fee.

Casalinga, well I do know many expats who refuse to pay this but I always pay it. It is a small amount, not worth the fines if caught not paying it.

BTW, I thought I had popsted this before but I couldn't find it. Here is the Bills Due section of my site with dates and amounts as well as links to the information needed to understand. http://www.expatsinitaly.com/living/bills_due.htm

Also, Paula, you wrote:"Felt better when I read somebody's post the other day theirs was two years in arrears so not too worried about a few weeks." Be careful because they can really stick you for late fees in Italy. I remember someone who had not paid their garbage tax in 4 years. THey did not know they had to go to the comune and register with the correct office to get the bill. Between late fees, fines, taxes, etc., they ended up paying over €1000 per year instead of €240 per year.

I have the devils own job paying my ICI last time as poor Cristina knows !!!...Thanks again for your help Cristina !:)
San Vito Commune doesn't accept payment over the internet ( well didn't then, but check it out as a lot round here seem to ...Ostuni etc.). The Post Office doesn't keep the forms either. You have to get the form from the Comune..BUT the ICI office is not at the Comune in the town centre of San Vito but above the Polizia Municipale Offices the other side of town ( will look up address again if anyone wants it). Obviously this only applies to San Vito Commune.

Once I finally got the form I was OK as Cristinas link to 'how to work it out ' is brilliant ...just don't forget that if the house is in joint names , you BOTH have to fill in the form and pay.
The man at the ICI office also registered us for Rifiuti but said we didn't have to pay this year as the previous owner would have paid already and we would get a bill when it was due. Bit worried about this is we are Senza Numero where we are so may need to check it out again.
When is Rifiuti due...can't see a date on the list Cristina ?

Where do we get the form for that and what info do they need ??? What is it anyway ????..is this that 'housewife'tax thingy ?? Hardly worth not paying at E12.50 but curious.

Garbage tax/rifiutiu is normally due ion September.

The casalinga/housewife tax form can be found at the post office.

I've just been thru all the documnets for the car and I can't find anything telling me when the tax is due....as we were told that you don't have a tax disc how do we know when it needs renewing ...or is it staring me in the face ?????The only hting we were told to display was the insurance . Am I missing something here ????

You should have a piece of paper from ACI that says on the top Attestazione di Versamento Tasse Automobilistiche. When you bought your car you should have had to go to ACI before the end of the month to pay this. DId you do this? If not, when did you buy the car and was it new or used.

No , we don't have anything like that. We have been thru all the car documents and nothing like that. We bought the car 2nd hand 3 months ago privately and they distincly told us the tax wasn't due until January. Getting a bit worried about this now.

If they said it wasn't due until January they are probably right. They should have given you proof though that it had been paid. Anyway, go to your local ACI office and bring with you your ownership papers. Explain that you bought the car from someone else and that you need to pay the bollo and also make sure they have you on the boks as the owner of the car. Should be pretty painless. Don't worry.

Thanks for your help everyone.
All is OK now. Alex had his Italian lesson this morning and told his tutor all about it ( good practise !!) so she popped him along to the local Tabaccaio and he just paid it with the guy taking all the info from the new registration documents (all in our name )...so we are now legal...I hope !! ....now onto the Income Tax.. .think we will succumb and get a commercialista to sort it out until everything is over here in Italy once and for all !!!!.......

Still not sure what this tax is ?????? Do I have to pay tax for washing up ,dusting etc... if so, no problem will just be a slob................
Seriously what is it ? Pamela

In the link I gave earlier to my site (the sections on Bills Due) there is a link to find out about the houswife/husband insurance. Here is a bit of info (not all the details).

The housewife tax is Assicurazione Infortuni Domestici and is paid through INAIL. It is in the event that you fall while cleaning house. It is €12.91 per year. Many people scoffed at paying this since it went into effect but this year they are cracking down and the late fee is €13 (yep more than the initial amount) You can get the pay slip at the post office. This is who has to pay it:
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
