2319 Income Tax

I know, I know,...there is bound to be something in the Search on this ...but I thought I would try to build up a comprehensive Post on this issue and hopefully get some help with our tax.

Is there anyone out there who has retired like us , so their income is their pension?

From my understanding of things, we have to declare our Income now in Italy, pay tax here and in Uk and then after a year, claim back the tax from the UK.
If ANYONE is in a similar postion PLEASE can you post any info here.

Here is list of things I need to know :

Where do i get a Italian income tax form from:

Do I need any other documents

How do I claim tax back from UK.

I am trying to save money and not go to a commercialista ( car broke and in garage as we speak  ) and anyway I thought a good self-help Post would be beneficial to everyone.:)

Hi,

You can get an tax form from the "Agenzia dell Entrate". The form is called a UNICO. I'm not that clear on what else you have to do but you can contact a commercialista for free (yes, free) advice at the following website www.bizweb.it/sit Use the contact form and then if you have further questions you can call them by phone.

The commercialista is my wife so if you're not happy you can hurl some abuse at me.

the link seems not working directly and you have to leave away the '/sit' and go via home page

unfortunatly it's in italian, but there you can download all the tax forms you need and get all the informations, even against double taxation: it's under the section "fisco nel mondo"

we are like you and did not realise that we have to declare in Italy - do we? We have no income in Italy only money sent out from the bank in UK. Do we still have to fill out a tax form?? Pension fully paid up for tax purposes in UK. any help welcome. Janetta

I would look for the definition of what the Italian tax code calls income. If it is world income, then you most likely would have to declare all. On the other hand, if it is income from Italian sources, then most probably you would not have to declare pensions from other countries.

Not sure if this has been highlighted elsewhere, but it won't do any harm if I mention it again:

Thank You! Very, very interesting links.

Glad to be of help to someone. I'll wager odds that 10 minutes of reading them and you'll be off to open a bottle of wine. Personally I've just remembered the Orvieto in the fridge:-)
