2376 time to get telephone service

We are building a new house in a rural area in Liguria and wondered how long it might take to get a fixed line telephone. About 300 meters away is the closest house with telephone, which is about 100 meters from the main road.
We know we can use cellular but we need the internet.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Also, has anyone had success using an alternate method to get the internet?

Have a look through previous posts as I remember some discussion referring to internet via a mobile which sounded interesting.

Hi there, yes it was us although we have a landline for normal calls we are in a rural location and internet access was painfully slow!!!
We successfully use a Mobile phone GPRS connection for internet use(unlimited at E30 per mth) there is also a cheaper option.

no having "got" the land (vallebona) yet but hopeful. I think we'll have to go wifi and I'll be asking for expertise on that one of these days!

Also seeking some info on internet access. Just learned we do not have ADSL service in our area (Varano in Lunigiana) and will have to do with dial-up. Any recommendations as to ISPs in Italy welcome. Will be only part-time.

How slow is slow and what is the cheaper option???

Slow is very very slow around 20Kbps and cheaper was around E20 per month.

Is this for cell connection and at what connection speeds??? My problem is that I run a web-site that requires frequent uploads with images and obviously speed is an issue. My past experience with cellular has been infrequent, some time ago, and s--l-o-w.
