2724 A good news story

A few weeks ago I had to go to the post office - like Marc I usually manage to delegate this chore.
Anyway, our post office has a most confusing system of deli-counter-type-tickets - you have to choose from one of three types depending on your needs - if you have multiple needs you may need multiple tickets. With your ticket/s in hand you scan the digital display above the ca. twenty (big post office) booths to see if your number is up and then dash to the correct window before the "assistant" decides to move on to the next customer.

As I was scanning, I noticed a door off to the side - the room within seemed brightly lit and inviting - like the Christmas stable is oft depicted - above the door, it read: "Business Post".

Inside there were friendly smiling faces behind a counter - no glass screen - one of the women was born in England of Campanian parents who moved her to Tuscany when she was 13 - so I could have spoken English if I had wanted.

Two minutes later I had finished all my chores and had a plastic card to acknowledge the fact that i was a bona fide user of their facilities.

I went home with a spring in my step and she who is delegated to - said: "oh, you were quick". When I told her of my discovery she was furious at all the hours she had wasted in the PO and furious that I "just waltz in there like Rockefeller and they are falling about you".

Anyway the good news story is that it is nice to be described as Rockefeller once in a while. :D :D

P.S. I am not sure if this is in the correct section - so mods please feel free to move it to the right place.

Stodge is this for business post only or does it have a list of functions as long as your arm and twice as diverse as most things seem to in Italy?

if you go into a main post office and have a banca posta account there is a priority ticket for paying bills/withdrawing money... postal services no... i tend to try and use smaller local offices...the wine and conversation is better... but alas no priority lines... though the postmaster might offer an extra glass of the red nectar
