3561 Motorino for my Son

Would like to buy a motorino for my son who is 15. Anyone know:
1) The law; do they need to take a test ?
2) Is a Licence needed ?
3) Is insurance needed ?
4) Which office to go to achieve the above ?

I suggest that you go to a motorino shop, and ask the owner! They should be able to guide you in the practicalities, if anyone can :)

Hi Peter and Ann.

This link might help a bit more.

I don't know if you read Italian, peterandann, but the motorino site link is very useful if you do!

It seems that your son would need to pass a written test, after having attended a course either at a "school" or privately, in order to be able to ride a motorino. I hope this doesn't present an insurmountable problem!!

When/if your son gets a UK motorbike licence, it looks to me from the motorino site that he would not have to take this test, but would be able to ride one. I am not sure whether the UK bike licence would entitle him to ride the same capacity bikes as it would in the UK (obviously, he isn't going to want a motorino if he can ride a 125 or a 250!!) Unfortunately, this legislation is changing in both Italy and the UK on an almost daily basis - which is why my first suggestion of asking in the motorino shop is the most certain way of getting the up to date info.
