What documents are required to purchase a car here in Italy.I have CdiS, and residency where i live, and i rent an apartment.

your CdS or even a certificate of residency, nothing more

I am sure notaio is precise with his advice - but a rental contract showing you have an "Italian address" could ease your passage with the motorizzazione!!

Many thanks for the replies concerning documents for car purchase, but found out this week, that identity card is required, and have been to the comune and received, them whilst we waited. cost just under 11 euros for 2 Brendon.
