I have my nose done (nostril) (<--in three days) both ears twice (lobes) and once in the cartalige, but i was thinking about an anti-eyebrow (like an eyebrow piercing but under the eye instead of over it) cause their cute and maybe a cleavage peircing (sternum), but you know, I could manage without... :(
I checked on BME, but there was no reference to any biases, so, well decided to check here...
I really am a good girl, but peircings amaze me... :)
Got one in my belly button!

Hi Melissa
Love piercings too but after I nearly fainted when I had my belly button done, I had to stop there. Dare I say it but I have a love for tattoos too! Wild one!
Tattoos still seem to be offensive to certain people, just depends on which crowd you hang with and how they are worn, if you get my drift. My Mom and Dad love them but think I'll regret it one day.
The piercings however, as long as they look clean and don't give you an attitude like it does for some people, are great and can be quite sexy too!
And I'm a very good girl too!

Hi Melissa,
I remember growing up with a very strict Italian mother who would not allow me to get my ears pierced. I rebelled by getting one of my girlfriends to help me out with my problem with ice and a needle after lunch in the girls locker room....
It was difficult when my three boys (now 20,21 & 25) all wanted piercings, was I going to give in? No :D Anyway 2 ended up getting them on their own. One has 2 pierced ears:rolleyes: and the other has a pierced eyebrow. They are all good, ethical and hardworking young men. They are willing to wear them or not depending on the situation they're in. If they think it will be offensive in some situation they take them out on their own accord.

Thanx... I wouldn't get any tatoos. Cool, but i'd probably regret it.
Aliena, just to let you know, I live in Alberta, Canada, so it was actually 11:47 AM, so i was at home for lunch. :)
Thanx bunches!
Melissa
What excuse?

I think most people don't mind lots of ear piercings in a girl/woman, but start getting a bit upset with men. I would say that the right order from;) to  to:eek: would be: ears, then nose, belly botton and eyebrow to tongue, nipples, genitals (hey, I live in Amsterdam now, I can check in my neighbourhood store any time if i missed any, but never been there before).
My brother lives in a small coastal town in Abruzzo and has: lots on his ears, wanted one in the belly bottom (a huge belly) so his wife took it herself as long as he didn't, got two small angels wings tattooeed on his back, plus another thingy, plus a big rose sprouting from his swimmers (didn't dare to ask further) and is planning a huge Paradise bird on his lower back with feathers and paws extending on his hips and thighs (I know for sure his wife is bribing his tattoo-guy for not finding the right design, that's three years ago already). So, I would say: do anything you feel confortable about, some people will always look down even if you don't wear the right brand of sunglasses, so what do you care. Others might be a bit prejudiced before they know you better, many others would not care at all and just love you for your beautyful soul. It's not really a scarlet letter, you know, just many people don't find lots of piercings and tattoos "respectable", but unless you want to apply as cabin crew for Alitalia, as a saleslady at the Rinascente or as a teacher of English in stiffy places (by the way, if your are going to teach kids they might find you terribly cool) what do you care?
Have fun,
Barbara
btw: my brother used to be a hotel manager, but is now a truck-driver. My mom just wonders why he cannot find a more "respectable"job, but loves him anyway.

My reasoning is that you can always let piercings grow in (unless your over 35 with huge gadges...) but, i still don't want to look like a walking freak-show... i'm reconsidering the anti-eyebrow and the cleavage because they are surface piercings, and my grandma was a little shocked that I drink coffee...

Haha! 3 days! Yay!

i like piercings, having been a punk in my youth i had a boyfriend with a pierced ear from which dangled a light bulb on a chain-great except when he danced and it kept hitting him in the eye.he removed it for work and was an intelligent and capable person.i enjoy an environment where people express their individuality in their appearance.

It would take a Canadian to post about piercings on a forum about "All Things Italian. Go figger!!!
Really?

 A Canadian Eh? well I never... grr  ... stupid sterotypes.... I may be Canadian, but if you read the beginning you would see that I wanted to know if there were any STEROTYPES against peircings in Italy. I'm hopefully going to be chosen to do a year-long exchange (when im in grd.12) so, why go through the pain and spend the money if I have to take it out? The club im hopefully exchanging with doesn't care. they go more for personalities.

Hehe... 2 days
Just wondering... what is the general bias on piercings. Are there any that are quite... ummm.... dissaproved by most people? yeah... so...
Dear Melissa..
Above is your original quote. Where does it mention the bias of Italians towards piercings?
As you can see no one responded by saying what the Italian bias was. All gave their personal opinions.
I am glad that you would like to attend school in Italy. Don't wory about the piercings. Young Italians are just like young Canadians. They like the same things.
Good luck in getting selected.
By the way, I am also Canadian!!

I assumed that most people would realize that I ment Italians... guess I guessed wrong... didn't even realize. sorry
Have you done a search to see if anyone has posted about that before... some people get cross when the same questions come up time and again... however I think your question has never been asked before.
