3534 Tavullia And "our" Vale!!!!!

Ah so we can now put the boy wonder back where he belongs!!!
Tavullia a small sleepy (well not when Valentino was a boy) town in the Northern part of Le Marche.
6336 bods and of course it's local hero Valentino Rossi.
Although today the town is visited more by fans of the legendary No46, there are several places of historic interests to visit including the Castle of Tomba dating back to 1283. Belvedere Foglienese remains of a Malatesta stronghold and the Church of San Lorenzo Martire with the relics of San Pio and The Last Supper by Nicolò di Pesaro (known as Trometta) in 1444.
In the church of San Donato which is inside the village walls, you can also see the relics of Beato Ugolino delle Caminate whos painting "Madonna in trono con bambino" is one of the greatest art jewels of Le Marche.

On the outskirts of town there is a rather interesting war memorial erected in 1997 as a tribute to the Canadian army who drove the Germans out in 1944.
This is a modern sculpture with the dove of peace surrounding the symbols of war.
Now the only wars fought in and around Tavullia are thankfully between Valentino and other lesser beings on 2 wheels.

In more modern times, art work in Tavullia includes the famous number 46 on a yellow background.
This is to be found on nearly every house and shop front and even the school bus is yellow with 46 on the back!!!

The famous curva where a young upstart in an ape gave the local vigili a hard time is also marked with a colourful fresco bearing the words Curva Rossifumo!!!

The official fan club is easy to spot as are the 7 large Number 1 on the ancient walls pointing out the 7 great victories of Tavullias moto mondiali.

One excellent restaurant called "Osteria degli ultimi" is owned by Vale's mates and a bottle of the victory champagne from Donnington graces the bar.
Across the road is Pizzeria Paride-----a temple to Rossi and where hundreds of articles and pics adorn the walls.
I was totally amazed to go there one lunch time and there on the counter amongst the pizza boxes was the trophy fresh from Valencia!!!!

An annual event Tavullia Vale is held where bikers from the world over gather to celebrate and have a party and where often the hero himself joins in the fun.
