Just back from Haute Savoie where I learnt that the French like to eat oysters at New Year - does anyone know if Italians share trhis passion - perhaps in Piedemont?

Bari and generally the Puglia area.
In Bari it's very common, even during the rest of the year, to have oysters or other shellfishes eaten uncooked.
