8833 Second hand furniture Nr Jesi/Cingoli

Can't help on any specifics but I'm sure the subject has come up before, so do a search. I think it's safe to say that it won't be the cheap option as either it's not for sale or people have an inflated view of its value.

There is one called mano di mano at Cacamo just off the SS77 travelling from civitanova towards foligno and another at tolentino, called mercatino. Feel free to call me if you would like better directions (phone number is on our web site)

Theres also a second hand place in Tolentino called Trova Tutti, although I have noticed his prices have gone up quite a lot when compared to a year ago, he's obviously realised how much we all love the old stuff!

Anyway its on the road to Cityper next door to the tile shop.

I am looking for more of an architectural salvage yard if anyone knows anywhere?

Sorry, I do not know any suppliers in your area; however, in Tuscany, prices of all antique and vintage furniture have gone up considerably over the past year. I have seen French dealers visiting the mercatinos and purchasing pieces, including old doors and windows, stone sinks, etc..... I don't think that there will be too many bargains left.... anywhere.

We have been to this place a few times, and I think thats the secret, you have to keep going, also the guy speaks a little English and you may be able ask him to go on the hunt for you. we have bought a few chandeliers from there , no nore than 20 E each, but we did have a result the other day, spotted 2 very large ( mt and half ) dressing table mirrors, next to a public bin, our builders told us that they were from the 20's.......like I said a result.

I agree with Deborah and Ricky, you have to be very patient and wait until the right piece comes along. I visit these shops and mercatinos at least once a week as their stock changes all the time.

I just had a thought ( I am allowed only one per week ) I was wondering what would happen if you put a notice up in your local post office, asking if anybody had anything sell.......ya never know !

Maybe someone should start house clearances?? As you know most houses that are for sale contain the old furniture - some good, some hideous, but as they say someone's rubbish is another's treasure!

All we need is someone willing, with time, energy and a van..... oh and storage

Maybe we could advertise what's for sale on the forum, or possibly supply the mercatino in tolentino.

Are we talking about the same mercatino in Tolentino which has recently put up a sign outside saying "Second Hand furniture"? (or some such?) We love the place, but the most interesting things still have "venduto" on them and nobody has collected them... The other day there was an entire ticket desk, still with perspex window. God only knows where he finds the stuff...

One of the best places we have found is emporia on the outskirts of Ancona. there are two shops, one more on the outskirts than the other. Just been to a very interesting mercantino called Centro dell Usato, Via Tavo 290, in Pescara. Lots of stuff there, and very low prices. While we were looking for it, going through on the SS16 going out of Pescara we passed another place which was shut, but looked really good. Will go back and look at that another time.

Someone from the forums contacted me about six months ago saying he restored old wooden windows and had a warehouse full of em. Perhaps he also had other architectural salvage...? Unfortunately I can't find his message nor remember his name. Think he was in the Pescara area. Any ideas anyone?
If you do know who he is, I'd love to talk to him soon about some restoration work in my house...!

There's another second hand shop in Popoli, also useful. They have a wide selection of skis at €15 a pair for example.

Olio di Lino is the fellows name, he is up in Pretoro, I bought a couple of fantastic old doors from him.
